Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD.’”

Note: the restrictions on kitchen use that are applied in the weekly Shabbat will not apply to Yom Teruah because it is a separate High Day. The range, ovens, and griddle will be functioning, and the kitchen work areas will be open for use. However, we remind everyone that it is always a good practice to use the preparation day well, and minimize the amount of work that must be done on the set-apart day, so everyone is able to be “unyoked” and delight in the appointed time together.
